Travelers using the Kanti Highway should be aware of a 45-day partial closure affecting the Kalche section of Lalitpur. From March 14th to April 27th, the route will be closed from 10 am to 5 pm daily to accommodate a road widening project.
This 1.5 km stretch of the highway requires the removal of hard rocks to address a narrow bottleneck. Engineer Rabindra Maharjan, overseeing the project, anticipates the work’s completion within the planned 45-day timeframe.
During the closure, essential services and ambulances will still have access to the Kanti Highway.
The project is part of a larger effort to improve the Kanti Highway, with approximately five kilometers still requiring upgrades. Despite starting construction 67 years ago, the project has faced delays due to lack of prioritization and slow contractor progress.
