Dadeldhura: A 58-year-old businessman has been apprehended in connection with the gruesome murder of a 14-year-old girl in the Pokhara market area of Dadeldhura. The victim, Aarti Bhattarai, was found lifeless on Saturday, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Tek Bahadur Bhandari, who operates a book and stationery shop near the crime scene, confessed to the murder during interrogation, according to the District Police Office of Dadeldhura. Deputy Superintendent of Police Sugandh Shrestha revealed that Bhandari admitted to strangling the young girl in his shop after a heated altercation.
The shocking incident has sparked concerns among residents, who speculate that the murder may have been a result of an attempted sexual assault. However, DSP Shrestha cautioned against jumping to conclusions until the post-mortem report is released.
“It’s possible that the girl rejected his advances, but that’s not been definitively confirmed yet,” Shrestha stated.
