The Nepal Tourism Department has issued permits to 63 climbers, including 13 women and 50 men, across five groups seeking to ascend Mount Everest this spring.

In total, 17 climbing groups comprising 148 people (42 women and 106 men) have received permits for various Himalayan peaks. Mount Ama Dablam and Annapurna are also popular destinations this season.

“The spring season is the most popular time for climbing Everest,” said Chun Bahadur Tamang, an official from the department’s mountaineering branch.

Revenue from permits has already reached Rs 10 crore 55 lakh 91 thousand. The department expects the number of climbers to be similar to last year’s total of 478 Everest climbers.
