A car accident on Wednesday evening resulted in the deaths of 3 people and injuries to 2 others. The car was traveling from Nuwakot in Palpa to Butwal in Rupandehi when it veered off the road and plunged about 100 meters near Butwal-13 Bandel Pokhari.
Those who died in the crash have been identified as 56-year-old Ram Prasad Sharma (Chabilal), a resident of Butwal-10, 57-year-old Asha Shrestha of Tilottama-3, and 50-year-old Bhagwati Shrestha, also from Tilottama-3. All three were pronounced dead at Lumbini Regional Hospital where they were taken for treatment following the accident.
Two other passengers, Chandra Shrestha from Butwal sub-metropolitan city-9 and Laxmita Shrestha from Butwal-11, sustained injuries in the accident but are reported to be in stable condition at Lumbini Regional Hospital.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
