A suspected explosive device found near Balambu School in Chandragiri Municipality-12, Kathmandu, on Wednesday, turned out to be a harmless empty cooker.
Residents reported the suspicious object to the police after noticing it outside a house. Upon investigation by the Nepali Army’s bomb disposal team, it was determined to be a cooker with no hazardous materials inside.
According to Lalitpur District Police Complex spokesperson SP Nawaraj Adhikari, the panic arose when a small part of the cooker was visible through the green plastic bag it was placed in. The unusual sight prompted concerned locals to alert the authorities.
The bomb disposal team safely deactivated the item. Authorities are currently investigating the incident and searching for two individuals who were captured on CCTV breaking the camera near the location shortly before the suspicious object was discovered. The suspects remain unidentified.
