In an interview with Empire magazine, both directors said that for them Avengers: Endgame was a definitive ending for quite some time. However, over time they came up with an idea that did not stop pursuing them and they decided to tell it in these new films. Of course they didn’t go into details of what this idea was.
‘Really what happened was that we ended up finding an idea that really activated us all. ‘You couldn’t see it coming until it did and when it did we said it was a story we needed to tell.’ The Russo brothers said. It will probably have to do with the possibilities presented by the Multiverse.
