Balen Shah, the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has departed for France to participate in the prestigious 77th Cannes Film Festival. Mayor Shah was invited to the festival by David Lisnard, the Mayor of Cannes.
Accompanying Mayor Shah on this trip are Kumar Byanjankar, his management consultant, and Sunil Lamsal, his infrastructure consultant. Pradeep Pariyar, Chief Administrative Officer of the Metropolitan Corporation, and Deepak Adhikari, Head of the Administration Department, were present at Tribhuvan International Airport to bid farewell to the delegation.
During his time in France, Mayor Shah will participate in various programs at the festival, including a meeting with Mayor Lisnard and the festival director. He will also attend the red carpet and premiere events, and observe the audiovisual content creation chain.
This visit is particularly significant as both Cannes and Kathmandu are member cities of UNESCO’s ‘Creative Cities’ film category.
Mayor Balen’s itinerary includes a three-day participation in the 12-day festival, with his return to Nepal scheduled for May 20th.
