BIRATNAGAR, Nepal – Bhutan’s RTFC Team delivered an impressive performance in the opening match of the Birat Gold Cup, defeating Nepal Police Club with a decisive 3-0 victory at the Shahid Stadium in Biratnagar. The Bhutanese team showcased their skill by scoring three goals in the 36th, 40th, and 63rd minutes of the match.
Kinzang Tenzing of RTFC earned the title of “Player of the Match” and was awarded a cash prize of Rs 11,000 for his standout performance.
Before the match, the Social Development Minister of Koshi Province inaugurated the tournament, highlighting the importance of national pride and sportsmanship. The Birat Gold Cup features a diverse lineup of teams, including A Division clubs from Nepal as well as teams from India and Bhutan.
The tournament offers substantial prizes for the top performers: the winner will receive Rs 1.1 million, while the runner-up will be awarded Rs 550,000.
The next match of the tournament is set to take place this evening, with a showdown between the departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club and New Road Team (NRT).
