New developments in a Biratnagar nurse’s murder: The woman’s ex-boyfriend, the prime suspect in her death, has been found dead by suicide.
A nurse, Chandrika Kumari Das, working at Nobel Medical College in Biratnagar, was found dead in her apartment. Her ex-boyfriend, Shiva Shankar Das, was later found dead by suicide in a nearby hotel.
Police investigations indicate a potential murder-suicide scenario. Ms. Das’s body was discovered in her bathroom on Friday with injuries suggesting she was killed with a sharp weapon. Mr. Das was subsequently found hanging in a room at the Fine Hotel, located 300 meters from Ms. Das’s residence.
According to authorities, Mr. Das, a 22-year-old who had been working in Malaysia, reportedly learned that Ms. Das had begun a new relationship while he was abroad. He returned to Nepal on March 10th (Falgun 27th) and traveled to Biratnagar on March 12th (Falgun 29th). Police believe he stayed at Ms. Das’s apartment.
Investigators state that Mr. Das may have killed Ms. Das after she disclosed her new relationship. It is reported that he contacted his sister on Sunday afternoon, stating his intention to take his own life.
Ms. Das was employed in the Ortho Department of Nobel Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar. Morang Police Chief SP Nabaraj Karki confirmed the suspected murder-suicide.
