A Kathmandu-bound Air Dynasty helicopter (registration 9N-ANA) was forced to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff on Friday morning due to a bird strike. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 AM, approximately 7 nautical miles into the flight to Lukla.
Airport spokesperson Subas Jha confirmed that all passengers and the helicopter pilot are safe. The 5-seat helicopter was flying east of Kathmandu when the bird strike occurred. Bird strikes pose a regular challenge to flights operating from Kathmandu airport.
