The body of a 23-year-old woman was discovered in a pond near the railway track in the Janakpurdham sub-metropolitan city of Dhanusa on Wednesday night. Residents alerted authorities after noticing the body.
Police spokesperson DSP Ranjan Awa identified the victim as Priyanka Mahato of Manara Shiswa Municipality-2 in Mahottari. Her body has been transferred to the Provincial Hospital Janakpur for an autopsy.
Investigators believe the death may be a homicide. DSP Awa stated that further details and confirmation will depend on the post-mortem report and ongoing investigations.
