In a highly anticipated move, the Council of Ministers is scheduled to convene for a significant meeting on Sunday at 5 pm in the Prime Minister’s Office located in Singha Durbar.

The backdrop of this meeting includes demands from the main opposition party, CPN-UML, calling for the resignation of three ministers. During today’s parliamentary session, UML Whip Mahesh Bartaula explicitly called for the resignations of Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Prakash Jwala, Minister for Health and Population Mohan Basnet, and Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati.

The call for resignation stems from various allegations and controversies surrounding the ministers. Bartaula specifically highlighted Minister Jwala’s alleged involvement in a case related to the tragic death of two youths in Lalitpur on December 29.

Furthermore, he raised accusations of corruption against Health Minister Basnet and accused Minister Kirati of misappropriation of resources from the Lumbini Development Fund.

Given the gravity of these allegations, the Cabinet is expected to address these issues during the meeting, with potential decisions that could have far-reaching implications. The agenda is anticipated to extend beyond the calls for resignation, encompassing various matters concerning day-to-day administration. The outcome of this crucial meeting is poised to shape the political landscape in the days to come.
