Canada emerged victorious in their Copa America debut this morning, defeating Peru 1-0. Jonathan David’s 74th-minute strike proved to be the difference maker for the Canadians.
Peru’s challenge was further hampered by a red card issued to Miguel Araujo in the 59th minute, reducing them to 10 men.
This win puts Canada in a strong position in Group A. They currently sit in second place with 3 points, behind Argentina (4 points). Chile follows with 2 points, while Peru occupies the bottom spot with just 1 point.
