Karnali Yaks, a team participating in the Nepal Premier League (NPL), has strengthened their squad by signing West Indian power-hitter Chadwick Walton. The 39-year-old right-handed batsman will be the third foreign player for the team, joining Pakistan’s Mohammad Hussain Talat and Hong Kong’s Babar Hayat.
Walton, who made his international debut for the West Indies in 2014, has experience in all three formats of the game. He has played 19 T20I matches, scoring 225 runs, and has also represented the West Indies in Test and ODI cricket.
Karnali Yaks’ head coach, Gyanendra Malla, expressed optimism about the team’s chances with the addition of Walton. “Walton is an experienced West Indies batsman. His arrival has made our team even stronger,” Malla said.
With Sompal Kami as the marquee player and Gyanendra Malla at the helm, Karnali Yaks has a strong core. The team has now secured 14 players, including 10 contracted players from the auction and three foreign players. They still have one more foreign player slot to fill and will also select one player through a talent hunt.
