Chakka Panja 5 is set to make its international debut in the Maldives, marking a significant milestone for Nepali cinema. The much-awaited film, starring Deepak Raj Giri and Barsha Siwakoti, will hit theaters on October 17th.
Nepali cinema is making waves in the South Asian region. Nep-Films, a leading Nepali film distribution company, has announced plans to regularly screen Nepali films in the Maldives.
The much-anticipated film “Chakka Panja 5,” starring Deepak Raj Giri and Barsha Siwakoti, will mark the debut of Nepali cinema in the Maldives. The film is set to hit theaters on October 17th.
Ramesh Dhakal, the distributor, revealed that an agreement has been reached with Schwack Cinema to screen “Chakka Panja 5” in two theaters in the Maldives: Male, the capital, and Hulhumale Island. This move is significant considering the large Nepali diaspora in the country, with over 5,000 Nepalis currently working there.
Dhakal emphasized that the regular screening of Nepali films in the Maldives is part of a broader strategy to expand the reach of Nepali cinema to new markets. He stated, “The search for new markets for Nepali films will continue.”
Apart from the Maldives, “Chakka Panja 5” is also set for release in the Middle East and Malaysia. The film, directed by Deepa Shree Niraula, is scheduled to hit theaters in Nepal and the United States on October 10th.
