Nepal’s Chaudhary Group (CG) has seen its mobile service license for rural areas revoked after failing to meet renewal requirements. The Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) confirmed the automatic cancellation due to CG’s omission to submit a renewal application along with the necessary fees within the designated timeframe.
Originally awarded in 2003 to CG Communication (then STM Telecom Sanchar Pvt Ltd), the license aimed to bring mobile connectivity to rural Nepal. However, the company never built the required infrastructure and neglected to renew the license after 20 years, leading to its automatic revocation as per Section 25(5) of the Broadcasting Act 2053.
