Host nation France has climbed to second place with a total of 26 medals (eight gold, ten silver, and eight bronze). The French team added three gold medals to their tally on day five.
Meanwhile, Japan slipped to third place after topping the table on day four. Australia is in fourth position, followed by Great Britain, South Korea, and the United States.
Of the 206 participating nations, 27 have claimed at least one gold medal, while 47 have won medals overall.
With 19 gold medals up for grabs on the sixth day, the competition is expected to intensify as countries battle for top honors.
