The government has chosen to recommend former Deputy Speaker Chitra Lekha Yadav for the position of Ambassador to Australia.

During a cabinet meeting on Monday evening in Baluwatar, the decision was made to propose Yadav, a prominent leader of the Nepali Congress party, for the role.

Previously, Congress leader Kanta Rijal had been nominated for the ambassadorship, but his name was withdrawn due to controversy. Yadav has now been recommended in his stead.

The government has faced criticism for a lack of inclusivity in its recent ambassadorial nominations across 18 countries.
