Bharatpur, Chitwan: A 63-year-old man from Bharatpur Metropolitan City-2 succumbed to dengue infection on August 31 at the Chitwan Medical College Teaching Hospital. This is the first dengue-related death in the district this fiscal year.
According to Dinesh Rupakheti, Chief of the Chitwan District Public Health Office, the deceased had been battling the illness for some time. The number of dengue cases in Chitwan has been on the rise since July. As of September 1, 551 individuals have been diagnosed with the disease.
Ichchakamana Rural Municipality, known for its hilly terrain, has reported the highest number of cases with 283 infections. Bharatpur Metropolitan City follows with 158 cases.
The Health Office has urged the public to remain vigilant as the risk of dengue transmission persists through October.
