Arrested with Cocaine in Kathmandu

A foreign national was arrested in Kathmandu on August 19 for possession of 1 kilogram and 88 grams of cocaine.

The Drug Control Bureau apprehended a 35-year-old citizen of Ivory Coast, at a hotel in Thamel’s Jyatha. Kone had arrived in Kathmandu from Ethiopia via Doha on Qatar Airways.

According to DSP Prem Bahadur Shahi of the Bureau, Kone had swallowed the cocaine and brought it to Nepal. After his arrival, the Bureau’s team extracted the blue cocaine from his anus and concealed it in a child’s toy.

The recovered cocaine is estimated to have a market value of approximately 4 Crore Nepali Rupees.
