A committee has been formed to investigate a tragic school bus accident that claimed two lives in Pokhara. Mayor Dhanraj Acharya announced the formation of the inquiry panel, tasking it with submitting a report within a week.
The committee, headed by Education Division Head Hemprasad Acharya, includes Deputy Secretary Krishna Prasad Tiwari, Chief of Metropolitan Police Force Purushottam Thapa, and Mechanical Engineer Saroj Chalise. Education Officer Ram Prasad Tiwari will serve as the committee’s secretary.
The probe will examine the accident’s cause, the bus’s condition, the driver’s qualifications, and the number of students on board compared to the bus’s capacity.
The fatal accident occurred on Monday morning when a bus belonging to LP Devkota Memorial School veered off the road in Pokhara-21 Chharchhare. A 33-year-old woman, Aarati BK, and her 6-year-old son, Prince BK, tragically lost their lives. Several others were injured and are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals.
District Police Office Kaski reported that the bus driver, a teacher, a parent, and 25 students are undergoing medical care.
