Chennai Super Kings (CSK) started their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 campaign with a bang, defeating the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by six wickets on RCB’s home turf.
Chasing a target of 174, Chennai achieved victory in 18.4 overs, losing only four wickets. Rachin Ravindra top-scored with a powerful 37 runs, while Shivam Dube (34 not out) and Ravindra Jadeja (25) provided crucial unbeaten innings. Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad contributed 15 runs, and Ajinkya Rahane added 27. Bangalore’s Cameron Green took two wickets, with Yash Dayal and Karn Sharma claiming one wicket each.
Earlier, Bangalore, batting first after winning the toss, posted 173 for 6 in their 20 overs. Anuj Rawat played a standout innings of 48 runs, supported by Dinesh Karthik’s unbeaten 28. Faf du Plessis contributed 35 runs, and Virat Kohli added 21. Rajat Patidar and Glenn Maxwell were dismissed for zero.
Chennai’s Mustafizur Rahman was the star bowler, taking an impressive four wickets, while Deepak Chahar claimed one.
IPL Continues with Doubleheader
The IPL action continues today with two exciting matchups. First, the Punjab Kings will face the Delhi Capitals at Mohali at 3:45 PM Nepal Time. Later in the evening, the Kolkata Knight Riders will square off against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
