The Department of Water and Meteorology has reported that Cyclone Remal is currently affecting the eastern regions of Nepal, bringing with it wind and scattered rainfall.
While the brunt of the cyclone is being felt in the east, parts of Gandaki province, including Kathmandu Valley, are experiencing light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning. Rainfall is expected to be partial to normal in the remaining hilly areas of Kosi, Madhes, and Karnali provinces.
Shifting Conditions This Afternoon
The Department predicts that skies will become partly to mostly clear this afternoon across Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. However, there remains a chance of localized thunderstorms with light to moderate rain and strong winds in these provinces, as well as a couple of places in Madhes and Karnali.
Possible Snowfall in High Mountain Areas
The Department also warns of the possibility of light snowfall in some high-altitude areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
Clear Skies Expected Tonight
Tonight, mostly clear skies are expected across the hilly regions, including the Koshi area. The rest of the country can also anticipate clear skies. However, there is a slight chance of light to moderate rain with lightning in some areas of Koshi and other hilly regions.
