Damak Incident Girl Attacked

A teenage girl in Damak, Jhapa, narrowly escaped death after being shot at by a man identified as her former teacher. The incident occurred Friday afternoon in front of the Senior Citizens Building in Damak Municipality-5. Residents alerted police after hearing a gunshot and seeing the girl running in distress.

Currently recovering in a local hospital, the girl revealed she was returning home after completing her class 12 exams. She originally hails from Udayapur and has been studying in Damak. The wound on her abdomen appears to be a surface injury, with the bullet miraculously not penetrating her body.

Police have launched a manhunt for the shooter. Koshi Province DIG Chandrakuvesh Khapung has ordered increased surveillance at Indian border crossings to apprehend the suspect.

Shocking Link to Previous Abuse

The victim has identified her attacker as Amit Kumar Yadav, a teacher from Siraha who previously abused her. In Srawan 2079, she filed a police complaint against him for molestation while working in Udayapur. Yadav pressured her to withdraw the case, resorting to threats and attempting to bribe her. After she refused, Yadav went into hiding.

According to an investigating officer, Yadav ambushed the girl on her motorcycle, demanding she drop the case. When she remained steadfast, he brutally shot at her, declaring, “I will not go to jail without killing you, your sister, and… (the person who helped file the complaint).”

Police are conducting a thorough investigation of this disturbing case.
