A horrifying bus accident in Nepal has claimed the lives of five people and injured 25 others. The incident occurred last night at around 10:30 pm in Bhalubang, Rapti Rural Municipality, when a bus traveling from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu plunged into the Rapti River.
The victims, who unfortunately succumbed to their injuries on the spot, were traveling on bus Bhe 1 Ja 3912. According to the Area Police Office in Bhalubang, initial investigations suggest that overspeeding may have been a contributing factor to the accident.
Rescue efforts were hampered by the darkness and the rushing waters of the river. However, emergency responders were able to pull 25 injured passengers from the wreckage. They were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The identities of the deceased are still being confirmed. The cause of the accident is under investigation, and further details are expected to be released soon.
