A high-level government team led by Defense Minister Manbir Rai has arrived in the flood-affected Khumbu-Pasang Lhamu rural municipality-5 to assess the situation and coordinate rescue and relief efforts. The team includes members of the federal and provincial assemblies, local leaders, and district officials.
The sudden flooding of the Thame River on Friday caused significant damage to houses, schools, and health posts. At least 20 buildings have been destroyed in the disaster.
The Nepali Army has deployed a team to the affected area to support rescue and relief operations. The local administration has temporarily sheltered 93 displaced people in a community building.
The flood has also damaged a concrete bridge, cutting off access to the popular Three Pass trekking route. The affected area is known for its livestock farming and tourism industry.
The government is committed to providing immediate assistance to the affected population and rebuilding the damaged infrastructure.
