Ambabu Gurung’s film “Degree Maila” has debuted to enthusiastic audiences in the Middle East, with theaters in the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain reporting strong ticket sales. Distributor Ramesh Dhakal confirmed near-total occupancy on opening day, with continued positive reception on the second day.
In Qatar, the Asian Town multiplex experienced sold-out screenings throughout Friday (picture available). The film’s release schedule includes 13 shows in Qatar and 30 in the UAE. While recent flooding in Dubai has slightly impacted numbers, Dhakal describes the overall opening as highly encouraging.
Seven Seasons is handling the film’s international release. Dhakal, as their Middle East coordinator, also reports positive attendance figures from Bahrain.
“Degree Maila,” produced by Baasuri Films, enjoyed a successful first week in its domestic market, grossing 5.05 crores, the distributor revealed in a Friday press conference. The film stars Dayahang Rai and Aanchal Sharma in a story exploring the social impact of educational unemployment.
