Dhangadhi: A surge in dengue cases has been reported in the Far West Province of Nepal. As the monsoon season progresses, the province has recorded a total of 229 dengue infections thus far.
Doti district has the highest number of cases with 53, followed by Kailali with 47. Achham (45), Kanchanpur (34), Darchula (18), Bajura (16), Dadeldhura (8), and Baitadi and Bajhang with four cases each have also reported infections.
The provincial health directorate has attributed the increase in dengue cases to the favorable breeding conditions for mosquitoes during the summer and rainy seasons. Hemraj Joshi, the directorate’s vector control officer, has warned of a heightened risk of dengue infection.
To prevent the spread of dengue, the public is advised to take precautionary measures such as using mosquito nets, eliminating stagnant water sources, and practicing proper hygiene. Early detection and treatment of symptoms are crucial in managing the disease.
