West Nawalparasi: A surge in dengue cases has alarmed health officials in West Nawalparasi. In just 15 days, from July 16 to 30, 71 people have tested positive for the disease.
The actual number of cases is likely higher as the data does not include those tested outside the district or in private healthcare facilities. To combat the growing threat, Ramgram Municipality has initiated a comprehensive prevention campaign, including mosquito spraying, cleaning campaigns, and public awareness programs.
The municipality’s head, Dhanpat Yadav, emphasized the importance of community involvement in preventing the disease. Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, the primary carriers of dengue, thrive in stagnant water, making it crucial to eliminate potential breeding grounds like tin cans, discarded containers, and old tires.
The district reported 315 dengue cases last year, indicating a potential for further spread this season.
