A devastating fire broke out on Sunday morning in the Sahidbhumi rural municipality-1 Burkha area of Dhankuta, destroying the home of resident Chhatra Bahadur Rai. The fire, which started around 9:30 AM, is believed to have originated in the kitchen while food was being prepared.
Despite the swift response of locals and police, the flames raged for an hour and a half, consuming the one-story house constructed of stone and mud. The Rai family’s possessions, including essential food supplies, clothing, and wood, were lost in the blaze.
Police Inspector Anil Kumar Shah confirmed the incident, estimating the family’s losses at approximately three lakh rupees. Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
