Dhankuta, Nepal – Football enthusiasts in Dhankuta are gearing up for an exciting month of competition as the District Football Association has announced the dates for its upcoming A and B Division Leagues.
The A Division District League will kick off on May 1st at the Danda Bazar playground, with six of Dhankuta’s top teams vying for the title. District Football Association President Mani Chemjong confirmed the news during a press conference.
Shortly after, the district’s Tundikhel ground will host the B Division League tournament, starting on May 12th. Ten Dhankuta teams will battle it out for promotion to the A Division.
Prizes and Stakes
The stakes are high for both leagues. The A Division League winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 40,000 with the runner-up taking home Rs 20,000. The bottom-placed A Division team will be relegated to the B Division for the following season.
In the B Division, the champion will receive Rs 30,000 and the runner-up Rs 15,000. Most importantly, the B Division winner will be promoted to the A Division.
District Football Association Chairman Chemjong revealed that the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) is generously supporting the tournaments with sports materials worth Rs 1 lakh and a cash contribution of Rs 6 lakh.
