The Dhanusha police are set to present Kantipur Media Group chairman Kailash Sirohiya to the court today to request an extension of his custody.
DSP Ranjan Awa, the Dhanusha Police Spokesperson, confirmed that Sirohiya, currently held at the District Police Office Dhanusha, will be brought before the District Court Dhanusha to seek an extension.
The previous permission granted by the District Court Dhanusha to detain Sirohiya for investigation, which was issued last Wednesday, expires today.
Sirohiya was arrested in Kathmandu last Tuesday on charges related to a citizenship offense and was transported to Dhanusha on Wednesday morning. Since then, the Dhanusha police have been investigating the matter under the initial three-day custody period granted by the court. The police plan to consult with the district attorney’s office before recommending an extension to the court.
