In a significant political development, Dirgha Bahadur Sodari of the CPN (Unified Socialist) has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province. The appointment was made by Province Chief Najir Miya on Thursday, April 18th. following the constitutional provisions outlined in Article 168(2).

Dirgha Bahadur Sodari, who serves as the parliamentary party leader of the Unified Socialist in the Sudurpaschim Province Assembly, garnered essential support from multiple political factions, ensuring his eligibility for the prestigious position. His coalition includes backing from CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN-UML, the Ranjita Shrestha-led faction of the Nagarik Unmukti Party, and independent province assembly member Tara Joshi.

The appointment came shortly after Sodari formally presented his claim for leadership on the same day, demonstrating swift and decisive political maneuvering within the province’s political landscape. This new leadership under Sodari is anticipated to usher in a period of stability and development for Sudurpaschim Province, which has seen its fair share of political fluctuations.

As Chief Minister, Sodari faces the task of uniting various political entities and addressing the pressing needs of the province, including economic development, infrastructure improvements, and social welfare enhancements.
