Inaruwa: Dr. Santosh Rai, the Medical Superintendent of Inaruwa Hospital, was assaulted by a patient’s relative.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening when Dr. Khemraj Thapa, a resident of Inaruwa Municipality-6, discovered that his mother’s medical report had been mixed up with another patient’s. Thapa alleges that Dr. Rai prescribed medication based on the incorrect report, which could have had serious consequences.
Superintendent of Police Suman Kumar confirmed that Thapa has been taken into custody and an investigation is underway. According to Police Superintendent Timsina, Thapa assaulted Dr. Rai after discovering the medical error.
Thapa’s side claims that Dr. Rai prescribed medication based on the report of a patient with kidney failure, despite Thapa’s mother having a different medical condition. When Thapa consulted another doctor, the error was discovered.
Police Superintendent Timsina stated that Thapa accused Dr. Rai of gross negligence for prescribing the wrong medication without verifying the patient’s identity and medical report.
Despite repeated attempts to contact Dr. Rai for comment, he has not responded.
