Doom: The Dark Ages was shown during the recent Xbox Developer Direct and revealed several of its new features. Among them is the fact that it will have several sections where players will move away from the battlefield to explore other paths in search of valuable resources.

In an interview with Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin, producer and director of Doom: The Dark Ages, they told us a little more detail about the exploration. Here they indicated that the game will not be open world, but that there will be several fairly large sections with a lot to find outside the established path.

Furthermore, Marty Stratton assured that it really is a linear title like the previous ones, that is, the advancement of the objectives always follows the same trend. The difference is that there will be parts where we will be left to go around looking for resources. Perhaps it will be similar to the Gears of War 5 approach.

To give us an idea of how big the maps could be in Doom: The Dark Ages, its creators also announced that the dragon that we have seen in its trailers can be used to travel through them with more ease and speed. So there will probably also be some secrets in the heavens that we have to find.

Doom: The Dark Ages will include new weapons, options and much moreSource: id Software.
