A Doramba Shailung Rural Municipality-3 ward member has been apprehended in connection with the murder of Ganesh Pathak from Ramechhap. Lal Bahadur Thapa Magar, 40, also known as Nicosera, was among those arrested.
Thapa Magar was captured by a team from the District Police Complex Kathmandu in the Jadibutti area of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32 on Sunday afternoon. According to SP and spokesperson Nawaraj Adhikari, he has since been handed over to the District Police Office Ramechhap for further legal proceedings.
The discovery of Ganesh Pathak’s body on July 5 in Doramba Salleni Bhir prompted investigations into his death. Pathak, aged 41, had gone to tend to the fields on July 1 but was found deceased four days later. Following the recovery of his body, suspicions of murder arose, leading to a formal complaint lodged at the district police office.
The complaint implicated individuals including Rujan Shrestha, Rudra Bahadur Nagarkoti, Hira Bahadur Shrestha, Prakash Kandel from Shailung-3, and ward member Lal Bahadur Thapa Magar from Doramba Shailung Rural Municipality-5. Thapa Magar, who had been evading authorities since the filing of the complaint, was finally arrested by police after nine months.
