Eight people, including an employee of the Pashupatinath Area Development Fund, named Anil Pariyar, were arrested for stealing offerings at the temple, according to Revathiraman Adhikari, spokesperson for the fund.
Adhikari said the theft was caught on CCTV camera. All eight people arrested have been sent to the Gaushala police circle for investigation.
Pariyar, who plays instruments at the temple, claimed he was forced to steal the offerings by other fund officials.
