A tragic road accident in Bargachi, Biratnagar on Sunday resulted in the death of a 25-year-old man and severe injuries to another individual. The incident sparked outrage among locals, leading to a protest and temporary obstruction of the Koshi highway.
According to Morang police, the deceased, a resident of Duhabi Municipality-9 in Sunsari District, was riding a scooter when it was struck by a truck. He was rushed to Koshi Hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The passenger on the scooter also sustained serious injuries and is currently hospitalized.
Enraged by the accident, local residents set the truck on fire, resulting in a temporary blockage of the Koshi highway. Police have taken the truck driver, identified as Sher Bahadur Rai, into custody for further investigation.
