Damauli Hospital is facing a surge in patients with fever and diarrhea, particularly since the onset of the rainy season. The number of affected individuals has spiked dramatically over the past week.
According to Dr. Kamal Bhandari, the hospital’s information officer, the influx of patients with these symptoms began in June. The facility is now treating between 350 and 400 patients daily, with the majority presenting with fever and diarrhea.
Dengue is also a growing concern. Dr. Bhandari emphasized the importance of preventing mosquito bites to avoid contracting this disease. Symptoms of dengue include headache, vomiting, abdominal pain, decreased white blood count, and difficulty breathing. While mild cases can be managed at home with rest, severe cases require medical attention.
To prevent dengue and other mosquito-borne illnesses, the hospital recommends avoiding mosquito bites, eliminating stagnant water, wearing long-sleeved clothing, and sleeping under mosquito nets. Additionally, diarrhea cases are on the rise, with approximately 10-15 patients seeking treatment daily.
The hospital is urging the public to take necessary precautions to prevent these illnesses and to seek medical attention promptly if symptoms persist.
