Bhumikasthan Municipality Ward No. 3 and 4 Dharapani, Nepal, have been ravaged by a severe forest fire that rapidly spread to residential areas. The fire, ignited by strong winds around 1 pm, is still out of control despite efforts by police, fire brigades, and locals.
At least 20 houses in Ratamata, Jabundanda, Bajakharka, and other villages have been destroyed. Resident Hariprasad Bhusal reports the village of Bajakharka is particularly devastated. While there have been no human casualties, livestock losses, and significant property damage have occurred.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. In a separate incident, three houses were destroyed by a fire in Panini Rural Municipality-3 Khulaile. Homes, sheds, livestock, and businesses were lost in the blaze.
Police are working to assess the full extent of the damage and continue efforts to extinguish both fires.
