In a devastating incident, a 55-year-old woman, Punyamaya Dhamala, and her 15-year-old son, Kanchan Dhamala, lost their lives in a wildfire that erupted in Siddhicharan Municipality-10 Beteni. The fire broke out in the Basaha Community Forest on Monday afternoon, spreading rapidly.
The victims were attempting to save hay stored in a private paddy field in Bahundanda Kol Pakha when they were tragically caught in the flames. Police Inspector Balishtar Singh of the District Police Office Okhaldhunga confirmed the fatalities.
Authorities have been dispatched to the scene, and further details about the incident are pending. This fire is the latest in a series of outbreaks that have been plaguing the district in recent days.
