A fire broke out in Rautamai rural municipality-7, Udayapur district, on Thursday afternoon, destroying two homes and causing an estimated loss of Rs. 50 lakhs. According to the District Police Office, Udayapur, the fire began in the home of Khadga Bahadur Katuwal due to an electrical short circuit and quickly spread to his son Ramesh’s neighboring house.
The blaze caused an estimated Rs. 30 lakhs in damages to Khadga Bahadur’s home and Rs. 20 lakhs to Ramesh’s home. Local police and residents worked together to extinguish the fire with assistance from the Rautamai Rural Municipality fire engine.
