Climbers Perish in Dhaulagiri

Kathmandu, Nepal – A tragic turn of events has unfolded on Mount Dhaulagiri, Nepal’s seventh-highest peak. Five Russian climbers, who were attempting the ascent without the assistance of Sherpa guides, have been found dead.

The team had last been heard from on Sunday night when they reached an altitude of 7,700 meters. A search and rescue helicopter was dispatched and discovered the bodies at approximately 7,600 meters. According to Pemba Jangbu Sherpa, a senior official from the logistics company supporting the expedition, it is believed that the group was roped together, and a fall by one climber may have led to the tragic outcome.

The sixth member of the team, who was unable to continue due to exhaustion, has been evacuated to a hospital in Kathmandu for medical attention.
