Manahari, Makwanpur: A tragic incident occurred in Manahari, Makwanpur district on Tuesday, resulting in the death of a young student. A 14-year-old girl named Ranjita Gurung, a class 7 student at United Boarding School, lost her life after being swept away by a flash flood.

Another student, 17-year-old Isan Gurung, who is in the 8th grade at Mahendra Kiran High School, was also caught in the flood and sustained injuries. He is currently receiving medical treatment at the Manahari Primary Health Center.

The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon as the students were returning home from school. Both Ranjita and Isan were swept away by the Morange River, which had swollen due to heavy rainfall.

While Isan was rescued by residents and police and taken to the hospital, Ranjita’s body was discovered approximately 2 kilometers downstream from where she was washed away. The District Police Office Manahari confirmed the tragic news.
