Heavy rains have caused flooding in parts of Butwal, impacting businesses and residents. The ground floor of the Rupandehi Industry Association Secretariat, National News Committee, and Bus Committee office near the Hat Bazaar line were all inundated.
The Amarpath market area was flooded with sewage after the canal of sixteen and thirty-six canals became blocked. The flooding also affected the surrounding neighborhood. In Kalikanagar, the premises of New Horizon Boarding School were submerged, forcing the school to cancel classes for the day.
The floodwaters have left behind mud and debris, causing the market area to become smelly. Yadav Bhandari, CEO of Rupandehi Industry Association, said that the office had to be relocated to the upper floor due to the flooding.
Gautam Rauniyar, an engineer with the Butwal sub-metropolitan city, attributed the flooding to the closure of the gate on the sixteen-thirty-sixth bridge. Ashok Kunwar, an industrialist, reported that around 500,000 plywoods were lost in the flood at Shubha Narayani Furniture Industry in Kalikanagar.
DSP Bijayraj Pandit, chief of the area police office in Butwal, stated that the flooding was caused by blocked drains and culverts. While there was no loss of life, the floods caused property damage in various areas.
