The government has announced plans to expand foreign employment services to Pokhara and Bhairahawa, the locations of Nepal’s two new international airports. This move aims to streamline the process for migrant workers and reduce the need to travel to Kathmandu for essential services.
The decision was made following a meeting of concerned government agencies, led by the Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, Sharatsingh Bhandari. The goal is to provide a comprehensive range of services, including health examinations, pre-departure orientation training, insurance, work permits, and visa processing, directly from the respective airports.
The expansion of services is expected to stimulate air travel and economic activity in the regions. The government will also work on establishing visa centers in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to further facilitate the process for migrant workers.
This initiative is part of the government’s broader plan to optimize the operation of the new airports and boost economic growth in the regions.
