Biratchowk: Former Chief Minister Kedar Karki, who had been on a hunger strike demanding free specialized medical care for children under 10, has been arrested by the police.
Karki, who was fasting outside the State Assembly Secretariat, was taken into custody on Tuesday evening.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Gyanendra Bahadur Basnet stated that Karki was arrested for holding a hunger strike in a restricted area.
Earlier in the day, tensions flared between Karki’s supporters and the police when authorities attempted to remove him from the protest site.
