At the moment, the Nintendo company has new faces that little by little are becoming familiar to the company’s followers, and just a few years ago the most recognized executives were Satoru Iwata and Reggie Fils-Aimé, from whom the last one resigned as CEO of the American division after leaving the success of Switch on its way. And now that he’s free to talk about different things, the well-known former worker gives his opinions about a popular PlayStation game from last year.
The acclaimed Astro Bot continues to garner recognition and praise since its launch late last year. With its impeccable platforming design and captivating charm, the game not only won Game of the Year at the Game Awards in December, but has continued to rack up awards at other prestigious events.
The game recently won three awards at the New York Game Awards, where it was nominated in four categories. Honors include the Tin Pan Alley Award for Best Music in a Game, the Central Park Children’s Zoo Award for Best Children’s Game, and the coveted Big Apple Award for Best Game of the Year.
Reggie was one of the co-hosts of the event and took advantage of the moment to talk about the constant comparisons between this game and the iconic Mario platformers. With his characteristic good humor, Fils-Aimé did not skimp on his praise for the PlayStation title.
“I have to admit,” he declared to the crowd, “Astro Bot almost beat Nintendo at its own game.” This comment, full of humor and admiration, was received with laughter and applause, highlighting the impact that Astro Bot has had even among renowned figures in the video game industry. The former boss’s statement underlines the success of this title as a benchmark in the platform genre and its ability to measure itself against the great classics of the industry.
Remember that you can only try it on the PS5.
