Four Arrested for Gold Smuggling at Tribhuvan International Airport

Police apprehended four individuals at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in separate incidents for smuggling gold.

  • Mohammad Imteyaz Alam (24) of Rautahat Katahariya Municipality-6
  • Mohammad Arman (21) of Saptari Surunga Municipality-5
  • Jyaudin Mia (37) of Saptari Khadak Municipality-6

Koirala and Alam were caught with around 25 grams of refined gold and 69.99 grams of raw gold. Police allege they evaded customs and were apprehended in the airport parking area during a transaction. Koirala had arrived from Qatar while Alam avoided customs inspection.

In a similar incident, Arman and Mia were arrested for possessing a 50-gram gold chain. Police suspect Mia, who arrived from Doha on a Qatar Airways flight, smuggled the chain past customs and attempted to hand it off to Arman.

Authorities are continuing their investigation.
