Gandaki Province is nearing the finals of the PM Cup NVA Volleyball League with its sixth consecutive victory.
In the ongoing league at the Tripureshwor-covered hall of the National Sports Council, Gandaki defeated one of the title contenders, Tribhuvan Army Club, 3-1 on Thursday.
Gandaki overcame the Army with scores of 25-17, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-17. With this loss, the Army is out of the title race.
In the men’s league, where eight teams are participating, Gandaki is at the top with 17 points after playing six games each, strengthening its chances of reaching the final. Help Nepal is in second place with 16 points, while Nepal Police, which lost to Help Nepal on Thursday, is in third place with 14 points.
The final two teams will be decided after the last league matches on Friday.
On Friday, Gandaki will play against Nepal Police, while Help Nepal will face the Tribhuvan Army.
Both Gandaki and Help Nepal will reach the finals if they win. Even if Gandaki loses to the Police in five sets, they will still make it to the finals.
For the Police to reach the finals, they must defeat Gandaki and hope that Help Nepal loses to the Army.
Everest and Police in Women’s Finals
In the women’s category, Everest Volleyball Club and Police Club, the champions of the NVA Volleyball Championship, will compete for the title.
In the women’s category, with six participating teams, both Police and Everest secured their final spots ahead of the last league game by winning four games each.
Both teams have 11 points from four games. They will face each other in the final league game on Friday.
This game will serve as a rehearsal for both teams before the final.
In the women’s category, APF and Tribhuvan Army, who are out of the title race, will also play their last league game on Friday.
Finals on Saturday
The finals for both men and women will be held on Saturday. The top two teams in the league will compete in the final.
The women’s final will take place at 1 PM, and the men’s final will be at 3 PM.
The match for third place will also be held on Saturday.
The winning team will receive 800,000 rupees, the runner-up will get 400,000 rupees, and the third-place team will earn 200,000 rupees. The best player will receive 50,000 rupees, while the best libero, server, blocker, setter, spiker, and coach in both categories will each receive 20,000 rupees.
